The Young Leaders of AIDS 2022 Programme is offered at the International AIDS Conference and IAS Conference on HIV Science to ensure that the voices of young people living with HIV, young activists and young researchers are heard at international meetings. In addition, the dedicated programme provides young people with opportunities to strengthen their research and advocacy skills to support capacity building.

Young Leaders at AIDS 2022
Young Leaders will benefit from an exclusive four-day curriculum at AIDS 2022, which will include the following opportunities:
- Meetings with leading scientists, researchers and advocates, including AIDS 2022 plenary speakers and IAS leaders
- One-on-one career forum to discuss individual career pathways in the field of HIV
- Networking with other young people living with HIV, young activists and young researchers.

What is the Young Leaders Programme?
The Young Leaders Programme is offered at the International AIDS Conference and IAS Conference on HIV Science to ensure that the voices of young people living with HIV, young activists and young researchers are heard at international meetings. In addition, the dedicated programme provides young people with opportunities to strengthen their research and advocacy skills to support capacity building.
What are the benefits of being a Young Leader of AIDS 2022?
Successful applicants will benefit from an exclusive four-day curriculum at AIDS 2022, which will include the following opportunities:
- Meetings with leading scientists, researchers and advocates, including AIDS 2022 plenary speakers and IAS leaders

What are the selection criteria?
- The Young Leaders of AIDS 2022 Programme is open to all registered delegates aged 26 or under at the time of the conference.
- Young Leaders must have a good working knowledge of English.
- Applicants will be selected based on the strength of their application while ensuring diversity of representation.
How many Young Leaders will be selected?
As for AIDS 2020, we aim to select 30-40 Young Leaders for AIDS 2022.
How will the Young Leaders of AIDS 2022 Programme adapt to the hybrid conference format?
We tailor each programme to the needs of participants. Shortly after the selection process, Young Leaders will be invited to a workshop to discuss how we can best accommodate preferences in both the virtual and in-person environments.
How do I apply for the Young Leader of AIDS 2022 Programme?
Applications opened on Friday, 1 April 2022, and can be made through your conference profile.
To apply, please ensure that you complete and submit the online application form available through your conference profile no later than Monday, 16 May 2022, at 23:59 CET.
I applied to be a Young Leader. When will I know the outcome of my application?
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their submission by the end of May.
Will I receive any funding to be a Young Leader?
The Young Leaders of AIDS 2022 Programme is open to registered delegates only. Young Leaders are therefore expected to already be funding their own attendance of AIDS 2022 or be in receipt of a scholarship.
